The American Alligator is found in the warm wetlands and swamps of the Southeastern United States. Alligators
are usually found in slow-moving freshwater rivers. They are also found in swamps, marshes and lakes. They can tolerate salt water for only brief periods.
Fun Facts:
- In the morning, alligators will come on to the land and bask in the sun.
- As midday approaches and the sun becomes stronger, they tend to retreat back to the water.
- Alligators can not actually chew. Instead, they break their food with strong jaws.
