Orangutans, who live in the tropical rain forests Borneo and northern Sumatra, reach about 30 years old in the wild and 50 years old in captivity.

Fun Facts:

  • The Greenville Zoo has three orangutans one female, Chelsea. and two males, Mia and Bob.
  • Bob was born at the Greenville Zoo February 23, 2006, and his favorite treat is peanut butter!
  • Mia was 24 years old in 2013, Chelsea is 23 in 2013.
  • When the orangutan’s climb, they always have 3 points of contact.
