Behind the Scenes Tours

Would you like to add more to your visit? Behind the Scenes Tours offers you a glimpse into the inner workings of the Greenville Zoo! 

Get up close to our animals, visit behind-the-scenes areas not accessible to the public, receive a guided tour from zoo staff and see what goes into the amazing care our animals receive daily. Behind the Scenes Tours can accommodate up to 16 guests and includes three encounters. The list of available encounters can be found below the pricing information.

Anteater Enrichment Encounter

Help create and provide an enrichment item for our giant anteater and hear from our South American zookeeper.

Lion Training Encounter

Hear from our Africa zookeeper and experience a training session showing how we use operant conditioning to provide our lions with daily care and check-ups.

Giraffe Feeding Encounter (Giraffe encounters are on hold for the safety of Autumn and her calf.)

Hear from our Africa zookeeper and feed our giraffes in this up-close personal encounter. 

Tortoise Touch Encounter

Enter the enclosure of the largest reptile at the Greenville Zoo. This hands-on opportunity allows for great team building moments. 

Ektopia Encounter

Go inside and behind our reptile and amphibian building. Meet with our herpetologist to learn about all things scaly and slimy. 

Amur Leopard Training Encounter

Hear from our Asia zookeeper and experience a training session showing how we use operant conditioning to provide our leopards with daily care and check-ups. 

Orangutan Training Encounter

Hear from our Asia zookeeper and experience a training session showing how we use operant conditioning to provide our orangutans with daily care and check-ups.

Red Panda Enrichment Encounter

Come and create lasting memories while visiting with our furry and unique red pandas. In this encounter, you will go behind the scenes with an Asia zookeeper and learn the exciting truths of this rare endangered animal.

Primate Row Encounter

This encounter and keeper chat allows you to learn all about the monkey business we get into while providing care for some of our most delightful residents.

Animal Hospital Encounter

Interested in the veterinarian side of the zoo? Hear from our vet staff about the challenges and rewards that come with working with a diverse collection of wild clients.

To book your Behind the Scenes Tour, please fill out this interest form.  After submitting the interest form, a zoo staff member will contact you with more information.
