OwlWendy the Barred Owl arrived at the Greenville Zoo from the Indianapolis Zoo in the summer of 2021. This past week her enclosure had a full makeover. It was all hands on deck as keeper Caitlin Witthans and Animal Curator James Traverse removed the original perching. A new drainage system was constructed and fresh landscaping was installed. Keeper Dindy McDaniel and Animal Care Manager Brian Eisele reconstructed the exhibits perching.  Sometimes it takes an entire team to give the best care to our animals. The new and improved enclosure has received Wendy’s hoot of approval.Owl Enclosure

OLLIE FlyerThe Greenville Zoo is presenting a specially tailored program for the Furman University Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. The program served as a companion piece to the OLLI group reading ‘West with Giraffes’ by Lynda Rutledge. Virtual attendees learned how AZA-accredited zoos provide the highest standards of care to our animals and discussed the ways we give back to giraffes in the wild through programs such as SAFE (Saving Animals From Extinction).
