May 6, 2022: New Ocelot Exhibit

Ocelot Exhibit

The Greenville Zoo is excited to announce the completion of a new ocelot exhibit in our South American corridor. Resident ocelots Oz and Evita have adjoining exhibits expanding their space significantly. Their enclosure can be divided with a private exhibit for each feline or be combined if breeding recommendations from the species survival plan (SSP) are given. We are constantly improving the care standards of all of our animals at the Greenville Zoo to ensure they have the best lives possible as representatives of their species.

Save the Frogs bannerArts, crafts, and conservation! Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Greenville Zoo this Saturday for "Save The Frogs Day." Save The Frogs Day is the world’s largest day of amphibian education and conservation action. Since 2009, Save the Frogs volunteers have conducted over 1,500 educational Save The Frogs Day events in 58 countries worldwide to support species-saving work for amphibians. Participants met our ambassador frog and toad, created thumbprint amphibians, and learned how they can help conserve frogs in their local Greenville habitat.

Cub ScoutsThis week cub scout pack #13 participated in an after-hours ‘Sunset Scouts’ program. Ten boy scouts met ambassador animals, participated in snake wrangling challenges, saw amazing biofacts from animals from around the world, and visited our zoo animals at dusk.

AlligatorAlligator keeper chats are back at the Greenville Zoo! This week our education and keeper team worked together to facilitate educational chats while Big Al, our male alligator, was trained and fed on Tuesday. Approximately 20-30 people enjoyed the alligator interaction. Alligator feedings and training will occur every Tuesday and Saturday at 3 PM.

Spider MonkeySpider monkeys were in the spotlight for this week's ‘Tell Me About It Tuesday.’ ‘Tell Me About It Tuesday’ is a free weekly program facilitated by the Zoo’s knowledgeable docent staff. Recent studies indicate spider monkeys are the most intelligent New World monkey. It’s easy to see how clever they are once guests meet Keegan, the most recent spider monkey to join the Greenville Zoo. After arriving at the Greenville Zoo in October Keegan has captured the affection of his companion Jasmine, as well as the affection of our guests who visit him on primate row.
