The animals of the Greenville Zoo receive full vet care and dental! Otis the bat-eared fox had a teeth cleaning and extraction performed by Upstate Vet Specialist, Dr. Romig. Bat-eared foxes have between 46 and 50 teeth, more than any other canid. Smile back at Otis during your next visit to the zoo. 

This week the Greenville Zoo has welcomed its first session of Junior Zoo Keepers. Teens ages 12-14 can join the zoo crew for an exclusive peek behind the scenes, meet ambassador animals,Photo of zoo campers and help with conservation research. From feeding giraffes, to taking out the hay, learn what it's like to be a keeper day by day!

Photo of Recent visitors to the zoo might have noticed a new exhibit inside our Ektopia building. A temporary “shovel exhibit” featuring a recently discovered dirt-eating species is occupying the building's largest exhibit while renovations are completed to update the herp-inhabited house.

The average lifespan of a Virginia opossum is between two and four years. So at one and a half, Mike the ambassador opossum is already considered a senior. Animal welfare is always a topPhoto of a ramp priority at the Greenville Zoo. To help Mike age gracefully his keepers constructed a new low-incline ramp to give him access to his outdoor paddock.

Photo of a fenceSafety doesn’t happen by accident at the Greenville Zoo. The maintenance crew has constructed barrier gates between our zoo pathways and wooded areas, performed inspections of our new 8 foot tall perimeter fence, and has repaved the zoo office’s driveway.
