National Zoo and Aquarium Month

June is National Zoo and Aquarium Month and the perfect time to visit the Greenville Zoo. Purchase a membership now, and visits are unlimited this month and the rest of the year!

The Greenville Zoo is proud to be accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), the independent accrediting organization for the best zoos and aquariums in America and the world. AZA-accredited zoos meet the highest standards in animal care and welfare and provide a fun, safe and educational family experience. Less than 10% of the wildlife institutions licensed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture under the Animal Welfare Act meet the AZA accreditation standards.

Selma with her birthday gift
Happy Birthday Selma
Happy Birthday Selma!

Happy Birthday, Selma

Happy birthday to our very vocal spider monkey, Selma! This sweet girl turned 46 this week, making her one of the oldest known spider monkeys in North America. The average lifespan for a spider monkey in the wild is around 25 years. Selma has far surpassed that milestone and is a testament to the zoo’s commitment to the care and wellbeing of its wild residents.
