July Zoo News

Happy Fourth of July from the Greenville Zoo!

The Greenville Zoo will be open on Sunday, July 4 during normal operating hours. Reserve a time to visit the Zoo online and celebrate the fourth with your wild friends.

Big Al

Meet Big Al

Thanks to generous supporters, our American alligator has a name! “Big Al” brought in  $835 of donations. The naming contest raised a total of $2,086 for the Greenville Zoo. Thank you for your participation and support!

Animal Enrichment

Animal Enrichment

Not sure what enrichment item to buy from the Amazon Wishlist? You can also provide gift cards to hardware stores. Many times, keepers build items out of wood, PVC, or other materials found at hardware stores. Receiving gift cards can let keepers purchase the materials they need to continue building new and creative devices that help promote natural behaviors with our animals.

Find out more about animal enrichment and how you can donate at greenvillezoofoundation.org.

Kellan

Happy Birthday Kellan!

We had a very special birthday this week. Kellan, one of our Masai giraffes, turned two.

His day was filled with his favorite treats, special enrichment, and plenty of love from his keepers. If you visit the Zoo this weekend, be sure to wish him a Happy Birthday!

Zoo keeper week

National Zoo Keeper Week

National Zookeeper Week is July 18-24. We know that world-class animal care and conservation efforts require a great team, so this week is dedicated to celebrating the zookeepers who care for the animals each day. The Greenville Zoo has an amazing group of keepers, and we appreciate their dedication and hard work. Follow us on social to learn more about the keepers who care for your wild friends.
